Meet the newest addition to the apaiser family – Hellen.

Through the Thorn Tree Project – scholarship program, we are honoured to support Hellen as she strives to be the first in her family to continue her schooling beyond early primary.

Hellen is a dedicated and clever student, and so has been offered a place at one of the best high schools in Kenya – Coulson Girls High School

Established to help the people of Samburu achieve their dream of being able to provide more opportunity and better education for their children, the Scholarship Program is one of four key initiatives of the Thorn Tree Project Kenya.

Over the years we have been privileged to work with some of the world’s best designers, whose passions and talents extend well beyond creating beautiful spaces, and who inspire us in many different ways.

Through our collaborations with Clodagh and the team, we are fortunate to have discovered the foundation and Hellen. Passionate about giving back to the world’s communities, and an advocate for education and well-being, Clodagh tirelessly supports organisations fostering education in the developing world.

Through ClodaghCares.org, Clodagh supports the Thorn Tree Project. Since 2002 Thorn Tree Board Member Clodagh has led the international fundraising efforts for the education of 1500 young girls and boys of the semi-nomadic Samburu tribes, along with Thorn Tree’s founder Jane Newman, who works on the ground in Kenya.

The fundraising to date has provided schools and dormitories for twelve pre-schools and three elementary schools, and Thorn Tree has been instrumental in allowing the first females in the tribe to go to school.

Thorn Tree is now supporting some of these amazing students through college. Members of a tribe of pastoral nomads, they live in one of the most marginalized and poorest areas in the world, and are the first in their families to have attended school. Through the student’s dedication and hard work, and the tireless support of the project, they now have a new world of opportunity.
